When Jayna Haney began her volunteer work with single parents and stepfamilies in 2002, fueled by her own search for help and support, she had no idea she would end up here. In fact, it all began at the end of her first marriage back in 1998.
First married in 1986, a mom since 1993, divorced mom and single parent in 1998, and remarried mom and stepmom since 2001, Jayna has walked a lot of miles in the same shoes as her clients.
Her professional journey has changed and grown along the way. In 2006, she founded The Bridge Across for Single Parents and Stepfamilies to where she provided coaching and education, authored programs, and taught workshops with her husband, Mike. In 2012, she went back to graduate school, earning her MS in Counseling and then her post graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from University of Houston- Clear Lake.
Jayna is known for helping her clients get to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible, so they can move on with their lives. She utilizes a multi-therapeutic counseling and coaching model that effectively helps children, teens, adults, couples, and families build resilience, manage crisis and conflict, deal with attachment and trauma, and create strategies to manage and thrive during difficult life challenges.
Jayna is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. She is also EMDR Trained. EMDR is a proven, effective, fast-acting and non-invasive method for healing trauma and PTSD-like symptoms. Many issues around divorce, single parenting, and remarriage can result in PTSD-like symptoms including anxiety, hypervigilance, sleeplessness, difficulty in focusing, and depression. Jayna is a licensed provider for New Ways for Families which teaches skills for building resilience in children and reducing conflict in co-parenting situations and has trained extensively in high conflict and alienation. She also studies and trains in the areas of trauma and attachment and utilizes the Integrative Attachment and Trauma Protocol for both children and adults.
Jayna and her husband, Mike, provide workshops for individuals and families designed to help them live their lives with forgiveness, humor, understanding, focus, less stress, more joy, and more of what they dreamed of for themselves and their children.
Jayna sees clients at two locations: Houston- Memorial at The Wellness Collective and Houston- South at Red Dun Ranch (where she does a little Equine Therapy), and by video conference anywhere.
